Rescanzo and DaVinci Resolve
Rescanzo finds moments in raw footage by what's in the frame and by what's said, and sends what you mark to DaVinci Resolve as a ready timeline. Resolve 21 brought a search of its own, so that first (as of October 2026).
What DaVinci Resolve does on its own
Resolve 21 added AI IntelliSearch: it finds objects in the frame, keywords in dialogue and people's faces, and shows the results in the Media Pool, either as whole clips with the matching span marked or as separate segments. The models are a separate download and analysis runs on your computer. Resolve has also had transcription since earlier versions, with text search, subtitles and text-based editing.
IntelliSearch has limits: it only knows the open project, and in hands-on tests it couldn't handle composition queries like "wide shot". Facial recognition for Smart Bins is Studio-only ($295), and third-party reviews list IntelliSearch itself as a Studio feature too.
What Rescanzo adds
The main difference is where the search happens and which Resolve you need. IntelliSearch only knows the open project and, according to third-party reviews, is Studio-only. Rescanzo searches the footage folder before import, and the timeline it makes opens in the free version of Resolve too.
Rescanzo understands queries and speech in Russian and English. Low and Mid run only on your computer, and in Pro a cloud AI double-checks what was found.
How found moments get into DaVinci Resolve
Mark the results you want, add them to a collection and choose DaVinci Resolve in the export menu. Rescanzo saves the timeline as FCPXML, which you bring into Resolve with File › Import › Timeline; the moments land at their source timecodes.
What it costs
A Low search costs 1 token, Mid costs 2, and Pro costs 2 tokens plus 1 for every started minute the cloud checks. A new account starts with 50 tokens, enough for 25 Mid searches.
Questions and answers
Do I need DaVinci Resolve Studio?
Not for Rescanzo: the FCPXML timeline imports through File › Import › Timeline in the free version too. IntelliSearch, according to third-party reviews, is Studio-only.
