Rescanzo and Premiere Pro

Rescanzo finds moments in raw footage by what's in the frame and by what's said, and sends what you mark to Premiere Pro as a ready timeline. Premiere's own search has grown a lot in the past year, so first that (as of October 2026), then where Rescanzo still earns its place.

What Premiere Pro does on its own

Premiere Pro 26 has Media Intelligence: describe an object, a place or a camera angle in the Search panel and Premiere finds matching clips. Analysis and search run on your computer, and results are cached next to the files so they aren't recalculated. Since 26.0 you can search for sounds by description too.

There are two limits: Media Intelligence only takes English queries, and it only searches media imported into the open project. Speech search works separately, through Speech to Text: transcription covers 18 languages, works offline, and you can search it from the Search panel and in Text-Based Editing.

What Rescanzo adds

Rescanzo searches footage folders outside the project, so you import only what you found into Premiere Pro instead of keeping every shoot day in one project. That matters when the archive is large and you only need a few moments from it. You can also describe shots in Russian, not just in English as with Media Intelligence.

If you're searching speech inside a single project, the built-in Speech to Text covers most of it. Rescanzo's Pro mode helps when you need to search a whole folder, or want a cloud AI to double-check the results; Low and Mid run only on your computer.

How found moments get into Premiere Pro

Mark the results you want, add them to a collection, and choose Premiere Pro in the collection's export menu. Rescanzo saves the timeline as XML (the xmeml v4 format), and you import it in Premiere Pro with File › Import: the moments land on the timeline at their source timecodes.

Rescanzo is available for Apple Silicon Macs and for Windows 10/11, so it sits next to Premiere Pro on either system.
