Rescanzo and VEGAS Pro
VEGAS Pro 2026 can transcribe speech, but it doesn't search the picture. Rescanzo finds the moments you need in raw footage and saves them for VEGAS Pro as an edit decision list (EDL).
What VEGAS Pro does on its own
VEGAS Pro 2026 has offline speech-to-text in 100-plus languages and text-based editing. But it transcribes events already on the timeline and comes with the subscription only, so it isn't a way to search all your footage. VEGAS Pro has no search by what's in the frame (as of October 2026).
How found moments get into VEGAS Pro
Rescanzo saves the marked moments as an EDL (CMX3600). It's a plain-text edit decision list: references to the source files and the timecodes of each moment, with no video inside.
On Windows, Rescanzo finds your installed VEGAS Pro, launches it and shows the EDL file in File Explorer; you then import it from the VEGAS menu.
If you search on a Mac
VEGAS Pro isn't made for macOS, so on a Mac Rescanzo just saves the EDL file. You can move it to a Windows PC with VEGAS Pro. Because an EDL points to the source files instead of containing them, the footage has to be on that PC too.
Search and pricing
Rescanzo searches by what's in the frame and, in Pro mode, by speech; it understands queries and speech in Russian and English. Low costs 1 token, Mid costs 2, and Pro costs 2 tokens plus 1 for every started minute the cloud checks. A new account starts with 50 tokens. You can download Rescanzo for Windows, where it works next to VEGAS Pro, and for Apple Silicon Macs, where you move the EDL across.
Questions and answers
What's an EDL?
An edit decision list: a plain-text list of edits, here in the CMX3600 format. Many editing apps read it, and for others Rescanzo has a "Save for another program" option with FCPXML, XML or EDL.
Try it on your own footage
A new account gets 50 tokens: that's 25 searches in Mid mode.
