Streams: highlights from a long broadcast

A stream runs four, six, sometimes eight hours, and the YouTube clip or the Shorts cut lasts a minute. Nobody wants to rewatch the whole broadcast, so highlights usually get found through chat and memory. Rescanzo adds another way: describe the moment in words.

What to search for in the picture

Queries describe what's on screen: "streamer laughing with face in hands", "victory screen", "character falls off a cliff", "scoreboard on screen". Rescanzo works with video files on your computer, so a local OBS recording or a downloaded copy of your own broadcast both work.

What to search for in the audio

The most quoted moments of a stream are often spoken ones. In Pro mode type the line you remember, for example "told you he'd jump", and Rescanzo finds where it was said. Each such search costs 2 tokens plus 1 for every started minute the cloud checks.

A long recording costs the same as a short one

Low costs 1 token a search and Mid costs 2, however many hours are in the folder, so an eight-hour broadcast costs the same to search as a half-hour one. A good routine for streams: run a dozen cheap Low searches to see where things are, then pin down the best moments in Mid.

For CapCut, Rescanzo cuts the found moments into separate MP4s, one file per moment; Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro get them as a ready timeline.

Chat and search together

Chat spikes are a good hint about where to look, but they don't tell you what actually happened on screen. Use both: let the spike point you to roughly the right hour, then find the exact moment with a query. That helps most when you want a specific moment rather than the loudest one: a clean shot, a guest's funny line, a fall the chat missed.

Questions and answers

Can I search a Twitch or YouTube VOD directly?

No, Rescanzo works with video files on your computer. Record locally or download your own broadcast first.

How many tokens does one stream take?

Twenty Low searches cost 20 tokens, twenty Mid searches cost 40. The 50 starter tokens are enough to try it on your own broadcast.

Try it on your own footage

A new account gets 50 tokens: that's 25 searches in Mid mode.
