Rescanzo and Final Cut Pro

Rescanzo finds moments in raw footage by what's in the frame and by what's said, then sends what you mark to Final Cut Pro as a ready timeline. Here's what Final Cut Pro can find on its own (as of October 2026) and when adding Rescanzo makes sense.

What Final Cut Pro does on its own

Since version 12.0, released in January 2026, Final Cut Pro has Visual Search: describe an object or action in words and it finds clips in the library. Transcript Search arrived with it, searching what was said on camera, with an exact-match mode and a related-words mode. Both need an Apple silicon Mac, and transcript search only understands English speech.

Analysis runs in the background and only on clips already imported into the library; Apple doesn't analyse multicam, synchronized or compound clips. Keywords, ratings, markers and Smart Collections are all still there, of course.

What Rescanzo adds

Rescanzo searches the footage folder before you import anything, so only the moments you found go into the library, not all twelve hours of a wedding. Its speech search understands Russian as well as English, so Russian-language interviews and vlogs can be searched by what was said, which Final Cut Pro's Transcript Search can't do.

Low and Mid run entirely on your Mac. In Pro a cloud AI double-checks what was found, and only short fragments go there, which aren't stored.

How found moments get into Final Cut Pro

Mark the results you want and add them to a collection. In the collection, open the export menu and choose Final Cut Pro: Rescanzo saves the timeline as FCPXML 1.9 and opens it straight in Final Cut Pro, with the moments at their source timecodes. From there they're ordinary clips.

What it costs

A Low search costs 1 token, Mid costs 2, and Pro costs 2 tokens plus 1 for every started minute the cloud checks. A new account starts with 50 tokens. Final Cut Pro itself is $299.99 one-off on the Mac App Store, or part of an Apple Creator Studio subscription.

Questions and answers

Do I need Rescanzo if Final Cut Pro 12 already has Visual Search?

If all your footage is already in the library and the speech is English, the built-in search may be enough. Rescanzo helps when footage isn't imported yet, when people speak Russian, or when you want the extra accuracy check of Pro mode.

Try it on your own footage

A new account gets 50 tokens: that's 25 searches in Mid mode.
